Cyanoacrylate adhesives are all-purpose, quickly hardening one-part adhesives with a wide adhesion range on a lot of different materials.

RTLINE  instant glues are used for handcraft and industrial applications in many different fields such as the sealing technique, the sewage technique, PVC- and metal processing industries, among other things in the window-, door- and façade manufacturing for the bonding of APTK/EPDM-sealing profiles.

RTLINE instant glues excel with particularly short setting times. They also have a good cold-, heat- and weather resistance.

When handling with CA-instant glues, users have frequently arising similar problems that are caused by different things.

CA-instant glues principally harden up influenced by air- and material humidity. This implies that the environmental conditions, the material- and condensation humidity on the bonding surface, the applied adhesive film thickness and the pressure, as well as the surface roughness, all have a decisive influence. The chemistry of the bonding surfaces, e.g. pH-value, raw material variations, surface coating, as well as corrosions and contaminations have also a decisive influence on the wished functional hardness. With these adhesives, Press times are heavily dependent on material- and adhesive temperature, too.

The storage conditions of the used adhesive are also a determining factor for the reactivity, i.e. the setting time of the adhesive.

The best storage temperature for cyanoacrylate adhesives ranges from +2oC to +8oC. In case of being stored under the influence of other temperatures the shelf-life of the glue can slightly change.

CA-instant glues  are functional during the stated time of shelf-life. But it is known that during the storage time of the adhesive the reactivity decreases – setting time becomes slower – without any visually clearly observable increase of the viscosity.

In the technical data sheets of the adhesives, we have mentioned the functional hardness of different materials. These time specifications always apply to very thin adhesive joints with sufficient material- and air humidity and they describe the finger-tightness/handling of the joined parts.

The functional hardness of glued assemblies can be influenced by material variations of the parts to be bonded. This means that a longer press time is not always caused by the processing conditions, because the single parts to be bonded may have a considerable influence. Furthermore, different CA-instant glues react to special jointing components/materials more sensitive as e.g. other CA-instant glues. This means that you can obtain more reliable and regular results, if you use another CA-type, depending on the kind of jointing materials.
